Oncology Appointment Update

I think today's appointment can best be described as "it went well" but my mom and I still left feeling a bit underwhelmed.

The complete biopsy results are not back yet since my most recent biopsy was just a week ago - full results do take longer. However, Dr. Liu was "encouraged" by the early results she could see. No, we still don't know if the cancer is in remission, but the other numbers are headed in the right direction, apparently.

Dr. Liu also reviewed the April biopsy (the results of which were not completely done when I last met with her), and she did recall that the April biopsy results were also "encouraging" to her. She didn't really communicate that to me, and I think I would've worried less over the last month if I at least knew that single word opinion!

Dr. Liu is giving me two more weeks for my body to recover from Chemo Round 2 before beginning Chemo Round 3. I am discouraged that there will be another round, but I am so grateful to have two more weeks to rest and recover. I also know better what to expect, so hopefully the next won't be full of so many surprises!

It will be interesting to get a feel for the transplant timeline at tomorrow's appointment at Northwestern - will it "work" with Dr. Liu's plan for three more weeks of chemo? Or, is the transplant much further down the road than I even think?

Thank you to all who have reached out in the last 24 hours since I posted this website. I am so glad many of you find it helpful.

Please continue to pray for travel safety (it truly feels like the Clampetts are going to The Big City) and positive feelings about Dr. Mehta and Northwestern for tomorrow. We are leaving at 6 am because I need to check-in for a pulmonary test at 10. I am scheduled to meet with Dr. Mehta at 12:00, with blood work afterward. Then, the long drive home on the Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend.
